John Cahir

Dr John Cahir is a partner in the A&L Goodbody's Commercial & Technology group. His practice covers both contentious and non-contentious aspects of intellectual property, information technology, data protection and media law. John advises clients across a wide range of industry sectors on their Commercial & Technology law requirements. He has acted on some of the highest profile technology disputes to come before the Irish courts as well as on the leading transactions. John acts for many of the multinational corporations that have established their European operations in Ireland and he also advises a wide spectrum of domestic clients.

John Whelan

John Whelan is a partner and Head of A&L Goodbody's Commercial & Technology group. John advises clients on contentious and regulatory matters and investigations with a focus within the technology and pharma sectors, and specifically on privacy, IP (patents), and telecoms regulation. He has been involved in many of the most significant litigation cases in these areas that have come before the Irish courts over the last 20 years. Before joining A&L Goodbody as a partner, John worked with Freshfields in London and Hong Kong. He previously headed up A&L Goodbody’s US offices in San Francisco and Palo Alto.

Shane O'Brien

Shane trained in McCann FitzGerald and is a member of our Disputes Group, where he advises on commercial litigation and, in particular, intellectual property disputes. He advises international and domestic clients on patents, trade marks, copyright, design rights and data protection disputes, with a particular focus on complex patent disputes in the life sciences and technology sectors. He also advises on pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device regulatory matters. Shane is also a qualified Trade Mark Agent.

Fiona O'Beirne

Fiona has practised for over 25 years in the area commercial litigation and dispute resolution. She advises international and domestic clients on patent litigation and other intellectual property disputes. Her practice also includes large scale commercial litigation, with a focus on complex international, regulatory and banking disputes.

Laura Scott

Laura Scott is a Partner in William Fry’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department specialising in intellectual property and regulatory law. Laura advises on all aspects of contentious work involving patents, trade marks, copyright, designs and confidential information and has extensive experience in large-scale litigation before the Irish Commercial Court, including complex multi-jurisdictional patent disputes. Laura also has significant experience in acting for regulators in defending judicial review actions, statutory appeals and other legal challenges. Laura has particular expertise in the pharmaceutical and medical device sector from a regulatory, commercial and intellectual property perspective. Other areas of focus include regulatory and other issues in the fields of telecommunications, broadcast media, and advertising and marketing.
