Staff:

Partner / Head of Mozambique Practice: Nuno Morgado Pereira – Nuno is dual-qualified in Mozambique and Portugal and is the local partner at NMP Advogados. He heads the firm’s practice in Mozambique and has developed particular expertise in projects and financing in the Mozambican market. Nuno has more than 10 years of experience and specialises in project finance and project development transactions. His areas of expertise include the energy sector, including oil and gas, LNG and energy transition, and the natural resources and infrastructure sectors, from greenfield to secondary market. Drawing on his crossborder experience, Nuno acts as counsel to sponsors/borrowers, commercial banks, and multilateral and bilateral development financial institutions. He provides advice on strategic joint ventures, project management, financial structures and products, including structured finance, direct lending, asset finance, corporate lending, and trade and export finance. Nuno has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a master's in administrative law - public procurement – from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Lisbon). He also completed an LLM in international business law at Católica School of Law. Nuno is admitted to both the Portuguese and Mozambican Bar Associations.

Cleide Cossa (Senior associate) – With over five years of experience in the banking and financial sectors, Cleide is a lawyer who specialises in regulatory, foreign exchange, compliance, and anti-money laundering matters.

She graduated from Eduardo Mondlane University with a degree in law and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in legal and business sciences, specialising in employment law, at the University of Coimbra. She has worked with leading financial institutions and has extensive experience in drafting legal opinions, particularly in the areas of banking, foreign exchange, insurance, and employment law. She supports clients in financial transactions and cross-border investments in the energy, mining, and industrial sectors. She also drafts, negotiates, and formalises financing and guarantee agreements between Angolan and foreign entities and conducts due diligence audits of financial and non-financial entities. Her clients include banks, insurance companies, and electronic money institutions, for whom she acts in administrative proceedings brought by the respective regulatory authorities. She also drafts internal AML/CFT compliance policies for Angolan financial entities and provides technical training to bank employees and electronic money institution staff.

She assists clients with the sale and purchase of shareholdings, as well as with their interactions with regulatory and supervisory entities. She focuses on the Bank of Mozambique, the Mozambique Financial Intelligence Office (GIFiM) and the Mozambique Insurance Supervision Institute, dealing with matters relating to foreign exchange, the prevention and combating of money laundering and insurance

Adriano Júnior (Trainee) – Adriano has a degree in law from the Higher Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique (ISCTEM) and a master’s degree in corporate and labour law from ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute. Adriano began his professional career at the 1st Commission of the Assembly of the Republic in Maputo, later joining the team at Orlando da Conceição e Rodrigues Bila – Sociedade de Advogados, where he worked as legal advisor.
