Binder Grösswang Expands the Management Board and Adds Two New Partners and One Counsel

In the new business year, the commercial law firm Binder Grösswang will have a larger management board, two new partners and a new counsel.

Management Board

As of 1 February 2022, Binder Grösswang is expanding the Management Board established two years ago to include Partner Angelika Pallwein-Prettner. An experienced expert in the field of employment law, Angelika Pallwein-Prettner will be in charge of human resources. Andreas Hable has been confirmed as a Managing Partner and will hold this position together with Stefan Tiefenthaler for the next two years.

Partner Angelika Pallwein-Prettner (42) is part of Binder Grösswang’s employment law team and has fifteen years of experience in representing employers in all areas of employment law, including court proceedings and administrative penal proceedings. She also specializes in data protection law, advising clients in this area and representing them in both administrative and court proceedings. She began her career in 2005 as an associate at Binder Grösswang and became a partner in 2015.

Stefan Frank (41) will become a new partner within the firm’s banking & finance team. The expert in banking and finance law has been with Binder Grösswang since 2008 and advises mainly banks, other financial services providers, fund managers and insurance companies. In addition, he has three years’ experience working as a specialist on the implementation of Basel III for the Raiffeisen-Holding NÖ-Wien banking group. The Legal 500 lists Stefan Frank as a "Rising Star" in the practice area Banking and Finance.

Stefan Frank advises Austrian and international clients on regulatory approval procedures (e.g. concession procedures, acquisition of shareholdings and restructurings of institutions) and on all issues relating to internal governance (e.g. compensation, fit and proper requirements, preparation of guidelines on compliance and AML/KYC), the structuring, registration and distribution of investment funds, share matters and insurance matters. He also represents financial institutions in administrative penal proceedings before the FMA.

Georg Wabl (35) will become a new partner within Binder Grösswang’s restructuring and insolvency law team. He has been with the firm since 2017 and advises clients on domestic and cross-border restructurings, reorganizations and transactions in connection with crises and insolvencies

The renowned legal ranking directories The Legal 500 and IFLR1000 have called Georg Wabl a “rising star” in the Austrian insolvency law market. He studied at the University of Graz, the University of Vienna and Queen Mary University of London, and began his career working for a renowned Austrian insolvency-administration law firm. In 2021 he worked as a secondee at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam.

Georg Wabl teaches international insolvency law as a guest lecturer at Leiden University in the Netherlands, is sought after as a lecturer at conferences and regularly publishes articles on relevant subjects in his field.

Counsel

Thomas Hartl (35), who has been a member of the dispute resolution team at Binder Grösswang since 2014, is being promoted to Counsel. He is an ISO-certified compliance officer and publishes regularly on topical subjects in the field of commercial criminal law.

Thomas Hartl specializes in commercial criminal law cases. In addition to advising and representing clients in pre-trial and trial proceedings, he focuses particularly on corporate investigations, compliance consulting, and risk and crisis management.
