He was Assistant Professor at the College of Law of Lisbon Classic University (1986-1990) and at Lisbon Catholic University (since 1987). Today is an invited teacher in several Law Courses, mainly in the domain of Arbitration, Civil Law and Corporate Law.

Portuguese Bar Association since 1987. Member of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) and currently President of the Arbitration Practice Commission at the Portuguese Arbitration Association.

Luis Miguel Cortes Martins is the Managing Partner of SLCM // Serra Lopes, Cortes Martins & Associados, in Lisbon.He has an important track record in Mergers & Acquisitions operations, both inbound and outbound, having been involved in major transactions in the energy and telecommunications sector. He regularly advises strategic business decisions and complex restructurings, developing long term relationships with the clients.He is a recognized and respected lawyer in dispute resolution and arbitration conflicts, both national and international, in public or private domain, acting as a lawyer or arbitrator.
