Career

Gus heads the Energy and Infrastructure department. His main area of expertise focuses on the energy industry (electricity, renewables and oil & gas) and his capacity as a business lawyer covers all related practice areas (e.g. M&A, Project Finance, EPCs, energy market regulations, etc.).

Due to the complexity of the issues associated with the energy market regulations he advises on major regulatory issues of the electricity and gas market, including oil & gas. Key international energy companies investing in Greece mandate Gus in the early stages of their investment program for the implementation of important energy projects (infrastructure projects such as, oil and gas investments, licensing and development of gas pipelines, CCGT power generation plants, wind parks, gas distribution networks, gas interconnection systems, etc.).

Another major element of his practice is the public sector-privatization projects for which he is regularly mandated by both the Greek State and the private sector (e.g. privatization of State owned companies in the energy sector, drafting and negotiating concession agreements related to major infrastructure projects and public private partnerships, etc.). Project finance is a strong section of his practice, since major local financial and credit institutions and private equity funds are instructing the team for the financing of energy infrastructure projects.

Gus acts as the Vice Chairman of the Institute of Energy of South East Europe (IENE) (www.iene.eu) which has a dynamic presence in the region of south east Europe promoting the cooperation of institutions and serving as a forum for experts and professionals in the energy sector. Gus also acts as co-chair of SEE LEGAL Group (www.seelegal.org) and heads the Energy Infrastructure Practice Group of SEE LEGAL. Gus is also a founding member and a non-executive Director of the Energy Center of Europe (ECE) established in Vienna.

Gus also serves as one of the managing partners of KG.
