Matthew is an associate at Fenech & Fenech Advocates, specializing in yachting, ship registration, and finance. He joined the firm in 2021 after completing his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at the University of Malta in 2017, where he focused on the Restorative Justice Act and its implications in his Research Paper. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in the Erasmus student exchange program at the University of Southampton. In 2018, Matthew qualified as a lawyer with a Master of Advocacy and was admitted to the bar in 2019.

Within the ship registration and finance team, Matthew plays a crucial role in assisting clients with various transactions related to the registration of vessels under the Malta flag, whether they are Maltese or foreign-owned. This involvement spans technical aspects during registration, the transfer of vessel ownership, and the renewal of registration certificates, among other matters.

Additionally, Matthew provides assistance across multiple transactions involving the preparation of necessary security documentation for the registration of Maltese statutory mortgages and security interests. This includes drafting mortgage narratives, deed of covenants, and the preparation of corporate review and release of legal opinion.
