Kristien Carbonez is Resident Partner and heads up our London representative office. She is a member of the Firm’s Executive Board and Head of the International Committee.

She acts as the key international liaison between US, UK and international clients and law firms and Liedekerke’s practice groups in Belgium, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda.  Having worked on both sides of the Atlantic, she has a broad grasp of international client needs, and focuses on strategic lead generation, developing new partnerships and nurturing existing relationships with clients and peer law firms internationally.

Kristien has advised US, UK and European clients primarily on intellectual property law covering all forms of contentious and non-contentious IP work, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets and confidentiality, copyright and designs. She has also practised European Union law and appeared before the EU courts.  She is a member of the New York Bar (2002) and the Brussels Bar (1997) and previously practised in UK and US law firms in Brussels, Washington D.C. and London.

She holds law degrees from the KU Leuven, Belgium (Lic. Jur.), Georgetown University (LL.M.) and the University of Heidelberg (LL.M.).  Kristien is fluent in Dutch, French, German and English.
