Career

Michael is a Partner, practising in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team. He specialises in dispute resolution and insolvency and corporate restructuring. His core areas of practice are commercial litigation including corporate and personal insolvency, insurance defence litigation and corporate and shareholder disputes. Michael represents a board range of national and international clients, in the private and public sectors, in all aspects of contentious litigation (including contentious insolvency litigation) in Court, as well as in alternative dispute resolution processes including mediation, arbitration and regulatory investigations. He also advises in the areas of data protection, financial services regulation and compliance.

Prior to joining RDJ, Michael worked in the Department of Finance and the Central Bank of Ireland as a legal and policy analyst. In that role he focused on financial regulation and legislative and policy development. He contributed to the achievement of key targets under the EU/IMF Programme of Financial Support for Ireland including developing legislation for the restructuring of the credit union sector in Ireland and the establishment of the Credit Union Restructuring Board (ReBo).

Michael is a member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners (ISIP). He holds a professional certificate in Compliance from the Institute of Banking and a diploma in Corporate Law and Governance from the Law Society of Ireland. Michael also holds a practitioners’ certificate in data protection law.
