Position

Daria Rutecka is an attorney at law and has been with Schoenherr since 2015. Her practice covers data protection, IP, IT and new technologies. Daria is an active member of the Schoenherr "Technology&Digitalisation" group. She has advised on numerous M&A deals with particular focus on both corporate issues and matters related to personal data or technology. Daria works on M&A transactions in various industry sectors, including banking and insurance, tech&telco and many others. She combines her expertise in data protection/IT and incorporates it into M&A deals she works on. Other than that, Daria's core practice includes daily advisory to companies on issues related to data privacy and IT, creating comprehensive data privacy strategies and policies, adapting them to Polish and/or European standards and legal provisions.

Currently, Daria is finishing her PhD thesis on legal issues related to Artificial Intelligence and the consequences of considering AI as a special category of software.

Daria graduated from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (2015) taking third place in the masters' dissertations competition on conflict of laws and choice of law aspects in electronic commerce. She participated in, and was a finalist in several international moot court competitions. In 2013 Daria spent one semester at the University of Eastern Finland as an exchange student.
