Career
Liv Monica Stubholt is an experienced corporate lawyer, with particular expertise in strategy, business development, corporate management and board matters. She mainly works with transactions and change management. In recent years, she has been particularly active within the industries that contribute to the decarbonisation of society, including hydropower, carbon capture, hydrogen, offshore wind and batteries. Liv Monica primarily works with businesses in the energy sector and the seafood industry and holds several Norwegian and international board positions.
She also has considerable expertise in geopolitics, the northern regions and the Arctic, the EEA agreement and Norwegian-European cooperation. Her portfolio includes large international companies that have invested in Norway. Liv Monica was a board member of the Norwegian-German Chamber of Commerce from 2010-2020 and is still engaged in Norwegian-German business cooperation. She has previously held top executive positions in the corporate sector, including several positions in the Aker group. She also has several years in politics, including as state secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Oil and Energy. She has broad experience with corporate governance and decision-making processes in the public sector and public ownership. This provides insight into business development at the interface between the public and private sectors and political processes.
She has a strong commitment in developing the legal dimension of sustainability and for several years she has been a member of the international board of the World Ocean Council, which works for corporate ocean responsibility. Liv Monica is an inspiring and recognized communicator in the energy and seafood sector. She regularly gives lectures in sustainability, business management and board work.
She is an advisory council member of the Centre for Energy Law at the Faculty of Law in Oslo and a former member of the board of the Energy, Environment and Resources Department of the Norwegian Research Council. She has been a member of several public committees (including the EEA Review Committee) and in 2022 she was appointed by the government as a member of the Energy Commission who submitted their report in NOU 2022:3.
