Managing Associate

Kaloyan Yordanov is a Managing Associate at Deloitte Legal. Kaloyan has considerable expertise in corporate and M&A, commercial, insolvency, banking, and real estate law. He is also recognised as a Next Generation Partner in the Real Estate and Construction practice area of Legal 500 in their 2020 rankings.

Kaloyan was previously an associate at the Banking and Finance Practice of CMS Cameron McKenna LLP, Bulgaria Branch (2008 - 2015) and a leader of the legal team at Bulgarian Home Loans, a subsidiary of an UK mortgage advisory company (2006 - 2008).

For 9 months in 2021-2022, Kaloyan was seconded and temporary undertook the role and responsibilities of the head of legal for Bulgaria of the multi-national real estate management group NEPI Rockcastle. NEPI Rockcastle is the premier owner and operator of shopping centres in Central and Eastern Europe, with presence in nine countries and an investment portfolio of EUR 5.8 billion as at 31 December 2020, It is also the owner of Serdika Center and Serdika Office buildings in Sofia and of Paradise Mall – the largest retail center in Sofia with an annual footfall in excess of 10 million visitors (this data is from before the Covid-19 pandemic) and a huge mix of major national and international tenants.  During his secondment, Kaloyan managed the client’s local in-house legal team and provided legal support to the NEPI Rockcastle Group of Companies in Bulgaria in the areas of real estate, contract law, corporate, finance, energy, regulatory compliance, and litigation.  As part of the services, he provided legal support in lease negotiations, banking and payment services regulatory assistance on PSD2 in relation to online platforms and marketplaces, competition advice, corporate legal services in relation to company’s general compliance, competition legal support, purchase of electricity advice and assistance and litigation legal support.
