Bas heads Van Doorne's Patents and Trade Secrets practice

His technological focus is on mechanical and electronic engineering. He advises on European patent and licensing strategy, coordinating and conducting national and European patent litigation and the most complex trade mark cases. Bas is experienced in setting up and implementing border measure programs. He has successfully represented global companies before the Courts of The Hague. He is familiar with patents covering industry standards and the interface with EU antitrust law.

He holds an LL.M degree from the University of California (Berkeley) and a doctorate degree from the University of Amsterdam. He is an active member of (among others) the Dutch group of AIPPI, EPLAW, Union and INTA. He is a honorary teacher at the Centre for Intellectual Property Law (CIER) of Utrecht University, has published numerous articles, and regularly lectures on matters in all fields of IP, including topics as the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court.
