Position

Rogier specialises in international commercial arbitration. He is co-practice head at Van Doorne.

Rogier acts as lead counsel, expert and arbitrator on M&A, joint-venture and investment claims (Dutch and foreign seated). Rogier also works as co-counsel. He is particularly active in the Energy, Life Sciences and Technology sectors.

Career

Rogier graduated Law & Economics (University of London) and Civil Law (University of Leiden). In 2011, Rogier was seconded to Royal Philips Electronics.

Memberships

In 2021, Rogier completed a second term as court member at the ICC Court of Arbitration. He also contributed to the Advisory Council of the NAI (for about 10 years). Currently, Rogier is active on the IBA and ICC's Arbitration Committees (chairing the Dutch ICC Committee until September 2022). He further sits on the NAI Rules drafting committee and the DIS Arbitration Council.

Rogier has a solid academic record, with a focus on evidence and emergency and fast-track arbitration. He has also published on the usage of arbitration rules (including LCIA, DIS and ICC) under the Dutch Arbitration Act; the IBA country guide for the Netherlands; and the Max Planck Institute's notes on NAI arbitration. He is also a guest-lecturer at various universities.
