Alexander Daae
Alexander Daae
Alexander Daae is a Senior Associate in Kvale’s litigation and dispute resolution department. Alexander has considerable courtroom experience from his work as a lawyer and deputy judge. This includes extensive litigation experience in various legal fields, particularly within employment law, contract law and the law of damages. Alexander advises on proceedings before courts at all levels, and conducts cases both independently and as a team member on larger cases. At Kvale, Alexander functions as a resource for clients and colleagues dealing with procedural and strategic issues in the fileds of dispute resolution and litigation context. Alexander also gives courses and lectures on civil procedure.
Andreas Stang Lund
Andreas Stang Lund
Andreas Stang Lund is specialized in civil litigation and dispute resolution, with an emphasis on banking and finance, corporate law, real estate, public law and offshore. Stang Lund also advices on various matters within these fields of law, and his extensive experience with complex legal proceedings includes arbitral proceedings. He came to Kvale from Hjort in 2016, and has background from the Oslo City Advocate and DnB NOR/Group Legal, where he headed the bank’s litigation team. Stang Lund has permission to appear before the Supreme Court.
Anne Kjølseth Ekerholt
Anne Kjølseth Ekerholt
Anne Kjølseth Ekerholt is specialized in transaction advisory services for big clients, including industrial groups and financial institutions. Anne assists both listed and unlisted companies with sales of businesses, acquisitions, integration processes, as well as advising on other matters within business law. She has managed a significant amount of transactions both nationally and internationally, involving complex structures both on the shareholder’s side as well as financially. Anne also assists companies with financial restructuring, including sales of all or part of a business, changes in corporate structure and renegotiating financing. She also has several years of experience as an administrator of estates. Furthermore, Anne is highly competent in and experienced with corporate governance, as well as being a legal advisor on stock exchange. As an advisor, Anne is focused on combining law with commercial and strategic needs.
Bjørn Løtveit
Bjørn Løtveit
Bjørn is highly specialized on the area of financing and collateral. He advises on matters related to issuance of loans and creation of security, restructuring, acquisition, and various other transactions. He also regularly works with insolvency and bankruptcy matters. His knowledge in secured transactions is underscored by his Ph.D. on the subject, establishing him as an expert in this field of law. Bjørn is frequently engaged as a speaker for clients, and at seminars and conferences. Prior to joining Kvale in 2023, Bjørn held the position of associate professor of law at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. During his tenure, he also served as the vice dean for research at The Faculty of Law. As vice dean, Bjørn oversaw the Ph.D. program in law and the faculty’s research groups. He played a crucial role in the strategic development of both The Faculty of Law and UiT as a whole. Before assuming the role of vice dean, Bjørn managed the private law subjects within the general legal education, showcasing his comprehensive teaching experience. Notably, he excelled in teaching secured transactions, contract law, monetary claims, and insolvency law, earning him multiple "best lecturer" awards at The Faculty of Law at UiT. Moreover, Bjørn has contributed as an external supervisor and examiner at various Norwegian universities.
Gjermund Mathisen
Gjermund Mathisen
Gjermund primarily practices in the areas of competition law, state aid and EU/EEA law. He has extensive experience with such cases from working at the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) and the EFTA Court, as well as in the Legislation Department of the Ministry of Justice and in the European Commission. Before joining Kvale in 2022, Gjermund held the post as Director of Competition and State Aid at ESA for eight years. In his time as Director, ESA dealt with some of its all-time largest competition cases, and several hundred state aid cases. In his preceding role as a Member of ESA's Legal Service, he represented ESA in some 30 cases before the EFTA Court, the Court of Justice and the General Court in Luxembourg.
Ingvild Hanssen-Bauer
Ingvild Hanssen-Bauer
Ingvild Hanssen-Bauer is specialized within intellectual property rights, with a particular focus on patents, trademarks and matters related to the Norwegian Marketing Act, such as protection of trade secrets and unlawful copying. She has extensive litigation experience within these fields of law, and has represented clients in a large number of complex cases, both before the District Court and the Court of Appeal.  Ingvild assists both Norwegian and international clients, especially within the pharmaceutical industry, oil/gas and aquaculture industry. Ingvild also assists our clients with agreements related to intellectual property rights, such as license agreements, research and development agreements, agreements on transfer of intellectual property rights and confidentiality agreements. Her practice also includes assistance related to ICT-contracts and data protection.
Kristin Ourom
Kristin Ourom
Kristin Ourom advices in general business law, with emphasis on energy, corporate, bank and finance, contract law hereunder IT/Telecommunication and property law. She has a substantial experience from counselling and procedure within these fields. Kristin holds furthermore several various board posts and is being used a lecturer. Kristin assists in a wide specter of transactions within different business sectors and she has long experience from work in all phases of such transactions, including advisory service linked to transactions, financing, negotiations, determination of transactions structures and drafting of contracts.
Marie Vaale-Hallberg
Marie Vaale-Hallberg
Marie Vaale-Hallberg is specialized in intellectual property law, in addition to having solid experience with contracts and contract negotiations. She has broad IP judicial practice, involving research and development agreements, protection and enforcement of trademarks, patents and designs, IP strategies and marketing law. Marie has extensive knowledge of the food industry, especially regarding regulatory issues related to foodstuffs. Marie is frequently used as lecturer in Norway and abroad. She is a member at Food Lawyers Network.
Monica Gjerde Sperre
Monica Gjerde Sperre
Monica Gjerde Sperre is specialised in employment law, crew law and dispute resolution. She assists several larger shipping companies and land facilities in the fishery and offshore industry. The experience includes a wide range of individual and collective employment and crew law issues, such as downsizing, reorganisations, suspensions and dismissals. She has extensive experience in collective employment legislation. Monica Gjerde Sperre is also specialised in dispute resolution, and litigates frequently before the courts. She has authored several articles within her fields of expertise, and has experience as a lecturer and external examiner on maritime subjects. She is also an assistant judge advocate for Southern Norway.
Tom Hugo Ottesen
Tom Hugo Ottesen
Tom Hugo Ottesen Heads Kvale’s restructuring, insolvency and investigation team. He has particular experience in (re)financing, credit security, credit recovery, insolvency and restructuring of hard pressed companies. He is also an experienced arbitrator and is occasionally appointed as arbitrator in insolvency-related disputes. Ottesen is frequently appointed as bankruptcy administrator by Oslo Bankruptcy Court and is appointed as administrator in a number of the largest bankruptcies in Norway each year. Ottesen is Chairman of the Board of Kvale and holds several directorships. He regularly lectures and participates in panel discussions on key emerging areas of the law in bankruptcy, restructuring & insolvency.
