Career

Javiera has more than 12 years of experience in the tax field, in the private and public sectors.

She began her professional career in the Tax Consulting department of PwC Chile in 2009. In 2010, she joined the tax group of the law firm PPU, with a local presence in Chile, Colombia and Peru, where she remained until 2018. As a senior tax associate, she provided sophisticated tax advice to multinationals and locally based companies, including cross-border investments, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions; application of agreements to avoid double taxation; among others.

In 2018, Javiera moved to the public sector, starting as a tax policy advisor at the Ministry of Finance, working mainly on the design and drafting of the tax reform project Law 21,210. During 2019-2020, she was appointed by the Ministry as advisor on tax matters at the Permanent Representation of Chile to the OECD, based in Paris.

In 2021, Javiera returned to Chile to take over as Tax Policy Coordinator for the Ministry of Finance. In this position, she advised the Minister of Finance and other Ministries on tax matters; worked on the design, drafting and legislative processing of bills and regulations on tax matters; coordinated with the tax authority the implementation of tax laws; negotiated protocols for Agreements to Avoid Double Taxation; among others.

In 2022, Javiera joined the KPMG International Tax Consulting team as a partner of the Firm.
