ABOUT LA GRO
La Gro is a leading independent full-service law firm based in the Netherlands, with offices in The Hague and Alphen aan den Rijn. With over 70 attorneys at law and 35 additional staff, we unite our efforts on a daily basis as we focus on complex legal matters and provide strategic advice to national and international businesses, non-profit organisations, and local authorities alike.

To combine sector-specific knowledge and serve our clients in the most efficient way, our firm works in industry groups, such as the Food & Agriculture group, the Healthcare & Life Sciences group, the ESG group and Energy group, which include lawyers from various departments within our firm.

We act as a strategic partner, help prevent problems, make organisations more future-proof, and advise directors on the right course of action to take. We happily take responsibility for proactively managing and integrating all legal aspects and processes on our clients’ behalf, acting as a legal business partner, and making a lasting contribution to our clients’ success.

Our firm has strategic alliances with other law firms in over 30 countries, mainly in Europe, Asia and North America, which were hand-picked by us. This enables us to assist our clients not only in our own country, but across multiple jurisdictions.

MAIN PRACTICE AREAS

  • Commercial Contracts & Litigation : La Gro’s corporate attorneys specialise in Dutch and international contract law, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements such as distribution, franchise, partnership, shareholder, and management contracts. We advise on commercial disputes, aiming for resolution through negotiation or litigation if needed. Our team also ensures franchise agreements comply with Dutch law, supporting international clients and firms operating in the Netherlands with practical, reliable legal expertise.
  • Corporate Advisory & M&A : We deliver tailored legal solutions to entrepreneurs, directors, shareholders, and regulators, addressing complex business challenges in both national and international contexts. Our team advises on mergers, acquisitions, governance, compliance, and ESG matters, and leads proceedings before courts and arbitration panels if needed. Multidisciplinary teams provide full support, including M&A, competition, privacy, and intellectual property, with a strong focus on sustainability and ESG integration.
  • Employment : Our employment lawyers offer strategic support for complex employment law matters, including dismissals, reorganisations, employee participation, and employment issues in mergers and acquisitions. With expertise in flexible working and self-employment, we act as sparring partners or in-house counsel, providing proactive, practical solutions. We share knowledge through sessions, webinars, and publications, ensuring clients remain updated on the latest legal developments.
  • Energy : Specialised legal support is essential in the dynamic energy and infrastructure sector. We guide clients—including project developers, investors, energy companies, banks, and public institutions—through sustainability transitions, grid congestion, subsidy frameworks, and cross-border collaborations. Our multidisciplinary team combines energy law with corporate, real estate, environmental, and project finance expertise, ensuring legal clarity for both traditional and sustainable energy projects, such as wind, solar, hydrogen, CCS(U), and district heating.
  • EU Competition : Our Competition & State Aid Team provides in-depth expertise on all aspects of competition and state aid law, assisting public authorities, trade associations, and undertakings in European law matters. We advise on merger control, abuse of dominant position, and state aid rules, and represent clients before national courts and the Court of Justice of the EU. Multidisciplinary collaboration ensures comprehensive advice and effective strategies.
  • Healthcare & life sciences : The Health & Life Sciences Team advises, acts as sparring partner, and litigates for organisations and companies in healthcare and life sciences. We cover multi-jurisdictional pharmaceutical patent/SPC matters, regulatory issues, marketing authorisations, clinical trials, competition, procurement, data protection, real estate, product liability, and guidance with regulators (IGJ, NZA). Our integrated expertise attracts leading pharmaceutical companies seeking reliable legal partnership.
  • Intellectual property: Our IP team is renowned for structuring complex patent, copyright, design, database, trademark, and trade name disputes, and advising on IP portfolio status, registrations, trade secrets, and unregistered rights. We provide high-end advice on key products, cross-border transactions, licensing, and joint development agreements. Collaboration with other legal teams ensures comprehensive support, and our patent litigators regularly represent international clients in high-tech, telecoms, and mechanical engineering sectors, handling SEP and non-SEP enforcement in the Netherlands.
  • Privacy and data protection : Our privacy and data protection team expertly translates GDPR and other regulations into actionable legal solutions. We respond swiftly to enforcement actions and urgent data breaches, supporting organisations and individuals in privacy-related litigation. Committed to building long-term partnerships, we serve as a trusted advisor for a diverse range of clients, ensuring compliance and effective risk management.
  • Real estate : Our real estate team provides comprehensive legal support across all aspects of commercial property, from transactions to settlements. We advise on contracts, partnership structures, and construction arbitrations for developers, contractors, architects, and public bodies. International clients benefit from our market insight and tailored solutions, ensuring effective guidance for buying, selling, leasing, and managing real estate assets.
    • OUR DNA and CSR
The culture at La Gro is very important to us. Our core values illustrate our mindset: personable, inquisitive, entrepreneurial, and resourceful. This mentality means a great deal to us, which is demonstrated by the activities La Gro gets involved in, both internally and externally.

La Gro values professional and lasting relationships with its employees, clients and partners alike. In addition to offering legal services, we want to make a positive contribution to society and be involved with the wider community. La Gro attaches great value and importance to a diverse and inclusive work culture, one in which everyone feels safe, is heard and, in all their diversity, can be themselves. In all our business activities, we take into account the three pillars of our CSR policy: people, society and the environment.

La Gro supports organisations that help people achieve their goals, which would be difficult or impossible for them to do on their own. We support several cultural organisations that bring art, culture or social matters to the attention of the general public in a positive way.

Sustainability is important to our firm and our employees so we go further than simply reducing our paper consumption. We constantly strive to make our operations more sustainable in every way possible. We support several initiatives and organisations that carry out activities to make the planet healthier, more liveable and more sustainable.
