Johan Theron has been a director at Werksmans Attorneys since 2009, working in the Dispute Resolution, General Litigation, Media & Communications and Environmental practice areas.

Johan specialises in media law and represents the majority of the print media in South Africa. Johan is also a specialist in commercial litigation, arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution, insurance law and water law. He was one of the first attorneys in the Cape High Court to represent clients as Advocate and appeared in the first case before the Water Tribunal. Johan has advised on numerous matters pertaining to contractual disputes in the retail and agricultural sector, he also advises extensively on matters pertaining to the Companies Act 71 of 2008.

Member of the Council of the University of Stellenbosch from 2014 to date.

Johan holds a BA LLB from Stellenbosch University.
