The firm: Established in 1976, Harris Kyriakides has grown over the years into one of the largest law firms in Cyprus. The development of the firm has always been founded on principles of integrity, professionalism and adopting standard of excellence, yet at the same time the firm is dynamic and consistently becomes adaptive and responsive to evolving clients’ needs, by introducing technology and modern practices.
The firm maintains over 30 lawyers and over 60 professionals in total. Areas of practice
Banking and finance: advising on the full spectrum of banking and finance matters. Clients include international and local financial institutions, investment companies and security providers.
Insurance and personal injury: the firm represents major international and local insurers and reinsurers as well as private corporations active in the insurance sector. It provides advisory services with an emphasis on compliance matters, and litigation work, specialising on personal injury and professional negligence claims.
Family and estate: the firm deals with all types of estate planning, pre-marital advice and matrimonial dispute resolution. It has leading experience on international child abduction matters. Additionally, it advises on wills, probate and estate administration.
Commercial and employment: the firm advises leading international and local companies on commercial law transactional matters (including JVs, franchise agreements, employment issues). It also acts in litigation matters with an emphasis on debt collection and employment, principally acting for the creditors and employers.
Real estate: the firm provides advisory services on the full spectrum of real estate matters, from simple acquisitions and due diligence to conceiving, implementing and completing large-scale real estate and infrastructure projects in Cyprus.
Administrative: the firm acts for public authorities, companies and individuals in connection with administrative law matters and provides advice and representation in relation to cases brought before the newly established Administrative Court.
Competition and public procurement: Harris Kyriakides maintains one of the leading practices in competition and public procurement matters and maintains substantial experience in the field, having represented the claimants in the matter where the biggest fine was imposed by the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition. The firm provides advisory and representation services on matters related to the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition and the Cyprus Tender Review Authority.
Corporate (advisory): the firm provides legal advice on corporate matters related to the Cyprus Companies Act as well as transactional representation, with particular emphasis on complex and multi-jurisdictional transactions.
Corporate (litigation): the firm provides advice and representation in heavyweight cases, often acting in co-ordination with international law firms and litigators. Team members have experience in litigation and arbitration matters, with an emphasis on injunctions, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments or arbitral awards and fraud cases.
Regulatory: the firm provides advice on a variety of regulatory matters, with specialisation in personal data and investment services.
Intellectual property: the firm advises on protection, development and enforcement of intellectual property rights, with an emphasis on international trade mark registration and enforcement.
Shipping: the firm provides legal advice and representation on agreements, litigation and arbitration proceedings concerning shipbuilding, sale and finance of ships, formation and maintenance of shipping companies and ship registration in Cyprus as well as ancillary matters such as charter-parties and marine insurance.
Tax: the tax department focuses on litigation matters, including international investigations and disputes with tax authorities.
