Career
Tsvetelina Dimitrova joined the team of Georgiev, Todorov & Co Law Offices in 2015 and since then she is actively involved in the corporate and commercial projects of the firm. In 2019 she defended a PhD in Private International Law at the Department of “International Law and International Relations” in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” on the topic “Mechanisms for International Investment Dispute Settlement”. Since October 2019, she is a senior assistant at Sofia University, where she teaches Private International Law.
Tsvetelina focuses on the transnational aspects of the cases resulting in the applicability of foreign substantive and procedural law, including the application of bilateral and multilateral treaties. She did an extensive research on the applicability of The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) in relation to the performance and non-performance of the contracts of the sale of goods, possible remedies on the side of the seller and the buyer, avoidance of the contract, remedies in cases of non-compliant letter of credit, and the importance of the INCOTERMS in such contracts.
In her practice at Georgiev, Todorov and Co Law Offices, Tsvetelina has been engaged in complex international transactions and cases. In the sphere of Corporate and Commercial law, she advised China Development Bank with on special pledges in Bulgaria's securing facilities; BM Bank of Moscow on enforcement of special pledges and mortgages securing a loan; and on the merger of 9 clinics in Bulgaria, Romania and Poland etc. She recently assisted Fleet Services on one of the biggest deals for Bulgaria - the purchase of Mobiliz Bilgi ve İletişim Teknolojileri Anonymous Şirketi, Turkey (the second biggest GPS company in Turkey).
In the field of Dispute Resolution and Arbitration, Tsvetelina is the legal advisor of Kornikom’s investment arbitration against the Republic of Serbia before the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in relation to a bilateral investment agreement between Serbia and Bulgaria and a claim for illegal termination of a privatization contract and also currently represents the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry for determining the ownership of real estate properties worth EUR 4 and 5 million.
Tsvetelina is interested in the application of the EU legislation and its compliance with the national provisions, as well as its incorporation into the national jurisprudence, including the recognition and enforcement of foreign awards and judgments with respect to the public order. She also represents many international distributors from various industries in cases regarding Competition law on the Bulgarian market.
She also advises on Employment law issues, including management contracts, termination of the contracts and rights and obligations of the employer.
Tsvetelina is also acting on daily basis for a number of clients in various sectors such as RECORDATI S.p.A., Experian Bulgaria, Borica, On Clinic, Hill Clinic, Ciela Production, Alliance Print, etc.
She is also regularly contributing to a number of national and international publications for arbitration, antitrust and EU law.
