Career
Jan Lasák is a partner at Kocián Šolc Balaštík, focusing on company law (including group law), mergers and acquisitions, and contract law. Combining top-tier transactional experience with deep academic insight, Jan is a trusted advisor to major Czech and international clients in complex corporate and M&A matters.
He has recently advised Aramark on the acquisition of Perfect Canteen and Perfect Catering, forming part of HOPI Holding’s food services division, and assisted Jet Investment Group with the purchase of a 70% stake in Likov, a leading Czech family business. He also acted for J&T ARCH INVESTMENTS in connection with its acquisition of a qualified stake in Moneta Money Bank.
Jan provides long-term legal support to clients such as ČEZ Group, Skanska, Komerční banka, and J&T, including in matters of group relations and corporate governance. His recent mandates include advising Rockaway Capital on the acquisition of several major Czech publishing and retail companies and assisting Intefi Group with acquisitions and internal restructuring of IT companies.
He regularly advises clients—including ČEZ, CETIN, and AGPI—on general meetings and shareholder matters and supports Asental Group on cross-border group restructurings.
In parallel to his legal practice, Jan is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University, and also teaches corporate law at Palacký University in Olomouc. He is a prolific author and lecturer, frequently publishing in legal journals and speaking on corporate and commercial law topics.
Jan holds advanced legal degrees from Masaryk University (JUDr., Ph.D., doc.) and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Lawrence A. Wien Fellow. He is also a graduate of Central European University and a member of the Czech Bar Association.
