Martin Šolc is a founding partner of Kocián Šolc Balaštík and one of the Czech Republic’s most respected legal experts in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and company law, including group law. With decades of experience advising major international clients on complex transactions, Martin is widely recognised as a leading figure in the Czech legal community and beyond.
His long-standing clients include YIT Stavo, Asental Group, Heineken International, Heidelberg Cement, and Advanced World Transport, to whom he provides strategic legal counsel on high-value transactions, group structuring, and corporate governance.
Martin has been consistently recommended by Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and IFLR1000 as a leading lawyer in corporate law, M&A, and restructuring. Chambers & Partners ranks him among the “Eminent Practitioners” in the Czech Republic, and he has been inducted into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame and recognised multiple times by Who's Who Legal in M&A and Governance.
In 2017, Martin became the President of the International Bar Association (IBA)—the first representative from Central and Eastern Europe to hold this prestigious position in the organisation’s history. His previous IBA roles include General Secretary, Vice President, Chair of the Public & Professional Interest Division, and Co-Chair of the Human Rights Institute, among others.
He has also made a lasting contribution to the Czech legal profession as a former Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Czech Bar Association, where he served on the Board from 1990 to 2002.
Martin has been named Lawyer of the Year for Corporate Law in 2007 and 2011 and was inducted into the Legal Hall of Fame in 2022 for his lifetime contribution to the legal profession.
