Career

Pavel Dejl is a partner at Kocián Šolc Balaštík and one of the Czech Republic’s leading legal experts in competition law, litigation and arbitration. He represents major Czech and international clients before the Czech Competition Authority, the European Commission, and Czech and EU courts, including the Supreme Administrative Court and the Court of Justice of the EU. His litigation successes include cases with significant societal impact, often setting precedents within the Czech Republic and across Europe.

Pavel achieved international recognition for his successful representation of Delta Pekárny before the European Court of Human Rights, a landmark case awarded European Competition Case of the Year at The Lawyer European Awards 2015.

He represents Leo Express, Asiana, and RWE Transgas in high-profile abuse of dominance and damages litigation, and has defended clients such as Eurotel Praha (Telefonica O2), Schneider Electric, Koninklijke Philips, and Reckitt Benckiser in proceedings before Czech competition authorities and courts. In merger control, he regularly represents major clients—including Mattoni 1873, Agrofert, Rockaway Capital, Czech Media Invest, and RWE Supply & Trading CZ—before both the Czech Competition Authority and the European Commission.

Pavel is also highly regarded for his work in commercial disputes, regularly securing victories in complex litigation and arbitration. Notable examples include representing Heineken Czech Republic, Lovochemie, Credendo, Skanska, and RWE in matters ranging from share purchase disputes to insurance claims and damages lawsuits against the state.

Pavel has been an advocate since 1998. He holds law degrees (Mgr., JUDr., Ph.D.) from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague and an LL.M. from the University of Amsterdam.
