Career

Tomáš Sequens is a partner at Kocián Šolc Balaštík, specialising in energy law, environmental and mining law, real estate, administrative proceedings and construction law. With over two decades of experience, he provides strategic legal advice to major players in the energy and industrial sectors, particularly in relation to complex regulatory and environmental issues.

He has long advised the REMA Group on the operation of collective systems for end-of-life product management, and Green Gas DPB on the extraction and distribution of mining gas, including its cogeneration use and related regulatory matters. Tomáš also provides ongoing support to Lovochemie, notably on the redevelopment of its energy infrastructure and chemical production units.

Other notable work includes advising Asental Land on land remediation projects linked to former coal mining operations, and supporting the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority on the planning and operation of radioactive waste facilities and the Bukov Underground Research Facility. He also advised Alpiq Generation (CZ) on the redevelopment and operation of its 600 MW power plant in Kladno.

Tomáš is consistently recommended by leading international legal directories, including Chambers and Partners, IFLR1000, and Legal 500, for his expertise in energy law. He was also recognised as one of the most influential sustainability experts in the Czech Republic by the Sustainability project in cooperation with Euro weekly.

He holds degrees in both law and natural sciences from Charles University in Prague and has also studied at De Montfort University in Leicester. He has been a member of the Czech Bar Association since 2003 and is active in the Czech Society for the Environment.
