Petr Kasík is a partner at Kocián Šolc Balaštík and a leading expert in corporate and group law, restructuring, financial regulation, and complex transactional projects. He also focuses on banking law and public regulation of financial institutions, regularly advising on high-stakes, precedent-setting mandates in both the private and public sectors.

He advised on the demerger of O2 Czech Republic, which resulted in the creation of Česká telekomunikační infrastruktura a.s. (CETIN)—a unique transaction involving a listed company with a dispersed shareholder base and complex general meeting arrangements. He also advised on the squeeze-out of CETIN’s minority shareholders, one of the first of its kind following the enactment of the Czech Business Corporations Act.

Petr played a key role in structuring CZK 32 billion in financial assistance connected with PPF’s acquisition of O2 Czech Republic, the largest such case in Czech legal history. He has also provided long-term corporate law advice to major clients such as ČEZ, including organising and managing general meetings and related governance matters.

His expertise is regularly sought by public institutions, including the Czech National Bank, which he advised on high-profile bank resolutions such as IPB and Agrobanka, and in related disputes and settlements.

In the insurance sector, he represented a pool of reinsurers in connection with the explosion and fire at UNIPETROL’s ethylene unit, assessing compliance with occupational safety, environmental, and technical standards.

Petr is also highly active in the regulatory and legislative sphere. He serves as Chairman of the III Chamber of the CNB’s Appeals Committee and is a member of the Public Law Commission of the Government Legislative Council.

He is recommended by Legal 500, IFLR1000, and Who’s Who Legal in corporate law, banking, and capital markets.

Petr has been an advocate since 1996 and holds advanced law degrees (Mgr., Ph.D., JUDr.) from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague.
