Career

At SÉRVULO since 2008, Paulo Câmara is a partner of the Finance and Governance department. He is a guest professor on the Lisbon MBA, the Master of Law and Business and the Master of Laws - Corporate Law, of the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University. He is coordinator of Governance Lab, an independent research group dedicated to corporate governance. He is also the Chairman of the General Meeting of the Portuguese Association of Banks (since 2016), and other financial institutions, and also Chairman of the Portuguese Compliance and Regulatory Observatory (since 2017). He chairs and is a member of the remuneration committees of two institutions. Member of Drafting Committee of the Financial Law and Capital Markets Journal, member of the Scientific Commission of the Competition & Regulation Journal, and member of the Monitoring Committee of the IPCG Corporate Governance Code. He was Vice-President of the Public Company Practice and Regulation Subcommittee of the IBA - International Bar Association, from 2010 to 2012. He was a member of the Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Financial Supervisors and of the European Securities Committee, from 2006 to 2008. He was Director of the Regulatory Policy and International Department and of the Issuers Department of the Securities Market Commission (CMVM - Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários), from 1998 to 2008. He was a member of the Euro Committee, from 1996 to 1998, and of the Working Group responsible for preparing the Securities Code, from 1997 to 1999. He has written over 80 published books and articles on financing law, corporate governance, capital markets and banking law. He joined the Bar Association in 1991.
