Career
Zafer Sheikh Oghli is a Partner in the Litigation practice in Sharjah. Zafer is also the Head of the Al Tamimi & Company’s Sharjah Office
Zafer Sheikh Oghli is a Syrian national. He practiced as an attorney in the Courts of Syria-Damascus in the First Instance, Appeal and Cassation Courts and was nominated as a Judge by a Degree. He moved to the UAE in 1996 and until 2005, he practiced as a legal consultant in one of UAE’s law firm, which has a number of offices in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, handling and drafting various memoranda, legal advices and contracts in commercial, banking, marine, arbitration, insurance, labour, criminal and personal status issues. Zafer represents corporate and individual clients before different kinds of Courts, including arbitrators. He joined the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution in February 2005 and handles and supervises most of the cases and advices in Dubai and Northern Emirates of UAE. In September 2007, he became Partner and Head of our Sharjah office. He assists corporate and individual clients both within and outside the UAE.
He handles litigation cases for the firm having the largest claim amounts (10 digit figures) in favour of our clients and sets forth strategic plan of action for intricate and complex cases.
Chambers Global 2012 has applauded his works by stating that "he heads up the firm's office in Sharjah and has built a strong reputation across the Emirates for his litigation work." Chambers Global has bestowed him the Lawyer ranking for two consecutive years- 2011 and 2012.
Chambers Global 2009 has stated that ‘He has extensive experience of a wide range of commercial litigation cases and has represented corporate clients and individuals before arbitrators, committees and courts”. Furthermore, clients say he is “among the cleverest of lawyers,” since “he never needs to be reminded of anything. He has a superb strategic mind, is an excellent draftsman and a really hard worker.”
He is a member of IBA and the Dubai Judicial Institute has invited him twice to deliver training for In-house Counsels and Government legal representatives. He is active in attending International conferences and in representing a number of arbitration disputes in Dubai and in Sharjah.
