Position

Mazor Matzkevich is a partner at M. Firon & Co., heading the competition, antitrust and regulatory affairs department.

Ms. Matzkevich practice focuses on all aspects of antitrust including the criminal aspects and the evolving segment – concentration and the food law. In addition Ms. Matzkevich advises corporations through all phases of white collar crime investigations, including corruption and bribery investigations in Israel and around the world.

After her mandatory internship at the District Attorney's Office in Jerusalem, where she represented the State of Israel in criminal and civil proceedings, she was admitted to the Israeli Bar in 1998.

Ms. Matzkevich then joined the Israel Antitrust Authority and between 1999-2002 led the Authority's criminal practice. In 2001 she was appointed Head of the Authority's Criminal Section.

While holding this position, Ms. Matzkevich supervised the Authority's prosecutors in criminal cases. She herself represented the Authority in litigation proceedings at the District and Supreme courts. Ms. Matzkevich personally led the key criminal cases of the Authority, including the first case in which prison sentences were imposed on cartel members.

Ms. Matzkevich was also responsible for the Authority's regulatory activity in sectors such as professional organizations, water and environment. Between 2001-2002, she also served as the legal counsel of the Authority's Procurements and Tenders Committee.

In 2002 Ms. Matzkevich was admitted to the New York State Bar, and in 2003 she joined the Federal Trade Commission's North East Regional Office as a staff attorney. During her six years tenure at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Ms. Matzkevich practiced both antitrust and consumer protection law. She was the lead counsel or co-counsel of merger and non-merger cases involving various industries, including high-tech, retail, pharmaceuticals, agro-chemistry, energy, hospitals, and food. 

Ms. Matzkevich was part of the FTC's litigation team in the cases of North Texas Specialty Physicians and Whole Foods/Wild Oats. She also took part in the Intel investigation (regarding its conduct relating to AMD). 

Ms. Matzkevich's consumer protection practice at the FTC included investigation and trial of false advertisements, fraud, telemarketing regulation, and privacy cases.
