The firm’s heritage dates back to 1898. Although the firm has grown steadily, it has experienced its most significant growth over the past 20 years. Amsterdam: Our legal and tax advice is characterized by our knowledge of the market and partnership with our clients. To assist our corporate and international clients right at the financial heart of Amsterdam, we opened an office on the Zuidas in 2011.

Tax: BUREN’s tax group covers all aspects of tax law applicable in the Netherlands and Luxembourg including all international tax issues and is fully integrated in all its other practices with a strong focus on corporate transactions, including M&A and intra-group reorganizations, investment fund structuring and employment and benefits related matters.
Dispute resolution: BUREN’s litigation and dispute resolution team has broad and extensive experience in the field of litigation and operates on the highest level. Its experienced lawyers successfully settle complex disputes. When pursuing the clients’ aims, BUREN offers innovative solutions and a proactive approach.
BUREN’s lawyers have extensive experience in proceedings, not just at courts and courts of appeal in the Benelux, including proceedings at the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal, but also as team players in cross border disputes. They also have broad experience in international arbitration, including arbitration at the Netherlands Arbitration Institute, ICC, SIAC and ad-hoc.
Employment and benefits: BUREN’s employment and benefits team advises on the full spectrum of complex employment issues including litigation and dispute resolution, (European) works councils and unions and the employment aspects of corporate transactions. The firm advises and represents companies in respect of (collective) dismissals, reorganizations, national and European co-determination, Collective Labor Agreements (CAOs), flexible and temporary employment relationships, drafting and negotiating employment contracts, agency and contractor arrangements, secondment, corporate governance and boardroom and senior executive issues.
Real estate: BUREN’s real estate team has extensive experience in the development, redevelopment, construction, financing, purchase and lease of real estate projects. BUREN’s multi-lingual professionals are well equipped to assist our international clients. In addition, our real estate practice is known nationally for its specialist expertise in foreclosure auctions of real estate. BUREN’s real estate team advises developers, investors, contractors, financial institutions and end-users of real estate on their real estate interests in the Netherlands.
Banking and finance: Our banking and finance team provides assistance to our clients on a broad range of financing arrangements acting for lender or borrower including acquisition and leveraged finance, project finance , real estate finance, general banking and capital markets. We furthermore advise financial institutions on their activities in the Netherlands in respect of license requirements and ongoing compliance with these requirements.
