The chairman of Foyen’s Board of Directors, John Hane, is one of Sweden’s leading specialists in the procurement of construction contracts and partnering/construction with a higher level of cooperation. In his newly published book, “The Construction Partnering Book”, together with co-author Malin Österberg the founder of the company VBHR AB, he addresses important questions in the field of construction partnering, such as procurement, when partnering is appropriate and when it is not, remuneration rules and contract issues (for example, the property developer’s form contracts). The book also addresses topics such as project organization, communications, and handling conflicts when partnering. The questions are illuminated with examples from practical construction partnering situations. In a closing chapter, interviews are presented with a number of very experienced representatives of employers and contractors who, in their own words, provide their opinions on what is required for a successful project and when it is appropriate to carry out a construction project using partnering.
