Partner and Head of the Food Law Department
Career
He joined LCA in 2017. From 2004 to 2006, he had been the assistant and legal advisor of the European Commission, DG AGRI, where he was in charge of the dossier on quality regulations, geographical indications and alternative energy sources. Following this, he worked for primary Italian law firms with an international presence, mainly focusing on international contracts, M&A, EU law, Industrial and Competition Law.
He represents Italian and foreign companies, as well as public and private agencies, involved in the agri-food supply chain with regards to food law, competition law, intellectual property law and customer protection. His professional activity focuses on the different aspects of the food law from the definition of agreements between companies to the compliance required from food firms along the chain, as well as from quality, certification and control processes to international commerce regulation and international standards, in addition to customs and compliance issues, labeling and advertising. In recent years, he has particularly focused his professional activities on important M&A transactions in the agri-food sector.
With regards to his academic experience, he has been a Professor in Food Law and EU Agricultural Law at the University of Florence since 2011 and the coordinator of the Master’s in Wine Law. He has been actively working with the University of LUISS Guido Carli in Rome where he was a Lecturer in Food Law and is currently a member of the Board of Coordinators for the second Master’s Degree in Food Law.
He has received awards, research grants and research assignments, as well as having authored over 80 scientific publications on several topics relating to agri-food law. Moreover, he has been a speaker at various seminars and lectures and has taken part in several national and international conferences.

He is an academic of the Academy of Georgofili and the Academy of Forestry Sciences. He is also a member of the Italian Association of Food Law (AIDA), the Italian Association of Practitioners of Agricultural Law (AICDA), the World Union of Agricultural Law (UMAU), the Study Center for Estimation and Territorial Economics (CeSET) and the Scientific Board of RIFOSAL (Consortium for Research and Education on Food Safety).
