Position

Wilfried has in-depth understanding of project development, (urban) area development, project financing and related aspects of corporate law, allowing him to provide expert advice to project developers, public authorities, real estate and other banks, investors, housing associations and contractor-developers.

Career

After an intern­ship with a law firm in Hong Kong in 1995 and doing his natio­nal service with the Royal Dutch Navy in 1996, Wilfried joined Houthoff Buruma as a lawyer in 1997. Houthoff Buruma seconded him to Bouwfonds Ontwikke­ling for several months in 2000 and in 2004/2005. In the summer of 2005 Wilfried worked at the London offices of Houthoff Buruma. In February 2006 he founded the firm of Straatman Koster Advocaten with Thijs Straatman. Wilfried lectures for the Koninklijke Notariële Beroepsorganisatie (Royal Dutch Notarial Society - KNB / CPO (Centre for Postgraduate Education) notarial specialism course in Project Deve­lopment), the Amsterdam School of Real Estate, the Instituut voor Bouwrecht (Construction Law Institute) and Lex Lumen. He also gives lectures (both ‘in-house’ for clients and for professional organisations) and publishes regularly. His articles have been cited in publications including Asser (5-IIIc) and the loose-leaf Groene Kluwer “Personenassociaties” (Associations of Persons). His postgraduate thesis for the MRE course was awarded the ASRE thesis prize 2007. Wilfried was nominated in 2006 and in 2008 for the biannual vote for the Netherlands’ best real estate lawyer.

Wilfried studied Dutch law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He also completed the postgraduate MRE course at the Amsterdam School of Real Estate / University of Amsterdam.
