Career
Hanna has many years of professional experience in the field of human rights and investment protection.
A judge of the European Court of Human Rights (2010-2022). After leaving the ECHR, returned to the legal profession.
Hanna is the only UN mandate holder in Ukraine and Vice-Chair of the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
Vice President of the European Society of International Law since 2023.

Led the Genocide Research Project in Ukraine and Moldova (now the Shoah Institute at the University of Southern California) - 1996-2001.
A member of the Pechersk Bar Association in Kyiv and has handled a number of criminal cases, including high-profile political cases during the Orange Revolution, as well as white-collar cases since 2001.
Advisor to the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights - 2009-2010.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elected Ms Yudkivska as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine in 2010.
Vice-President of Section V of the Court - 2015-2016.
President of Section IV of the Court for Human Rights - 2017-2019.
Scientific activities:
Associate Professor at the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine. Lectures in many educational programmes for judges and lawyers. Teaches at universities in the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Israel, etc. The author of numerous scientific publications on criminal law, human rights and international law.Education

Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Master of Law and European Studies (University of Strasbourg). PhD in Law since 2008.
