Career

Florian is qualified to practice in Austria since 2006. Before co-founding KNOETZL in 2016, Florian headed the arbitration department of an international law firm in Austria. Florian trained in an Austrian and a French dispute resolution firm.

He is a founding member of the Association of Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP) and is a Vice-President of the Austrian Arbitration Association (ArbAut).

Position

Florian Haugeneder is a Partner at KNOETZL. He has more than 15 years’ extensive experience as counsel and arbitrator under the rules of the major arbitral institutions, including the ICC, ICSID, SCC, LCIA and VIAC, as well as in international and domestic ad-hoc arbitration such as UNCITRAL. Florian has represented clients in some of the largest and most complex disputes in the CEE and SEE regions. A special focus of his practice involves international law on the protection of foreign investments under bilateral and multilateral investment protection treaties.

Florian specializes in engineering and construction, energy, joint ventures, as well as commercial and corporate disputes. His experience includes numerous M&A projects, hotel management contracts, the construction and operation of a major fiber-optic cable infrastructure, a large IT outsourcing project, various thermal and hydro power plants, international gas transportation and storage, banking and finance, highway and rail construction and replacement, and a water and sewer system. Florian has advised on a large number of FIDIC contracts.

Education

Florian holds a degree from the University of Vienna (1999) and a Master’s degree from King’s College London (2005).
