Ann-Maree is a corporate, commercial and data protection lawyer. Daniel Blake
Daniel Blake
Daniel represents both businesses and individuals and has a particular focus and interest in property-related disputes, which includes contractual matters, professional negligence actions, landlord and tenant and insolvency. Daniel is a member of the Property Litigation Association (an organisation for legal professionals specialised in all aspects of commercial, residential and agricultural property litigation) and also has a keen interest in sports regulation and litigation, working closely with Simon Grossobel, head of Quastels’ Sports Group.   His work highlights include: Acting on an urgent basis for a tenant whose lease had been forfeited. Securing a prompt return to the property and dealing with relief from forfeiture and LTA 1954 proceedings; Acting for landlords to obtain possession of their commercial and residential properties; Advising in respect of service charge disputes; Dilapidations claims; Leasehold enfranchisement claims; Landlord/tenant breach of covenant claims.
David Quastel

David Quastel is the firm’s Managing Partner and is a versatile and highly skillful commercial/property lawyer with special expertise in real estate development finance and structuring complex property related joint ventures. David Quastel is regularly instructed to assist in strategising international and UK disputes in terms of litigation and corporate issues. His role itself is more often than not confidential and his input used (with acting counsels’ knowledge) to assist in directing a case or for his views on strategy being employed. David’s forte extends well beyond providing technical legal advice and clients have come to value and rely upon his hands-on strategic advice at the earliest stages of planning and structuring complicated property, corporate and international transactions. Dipti is a highly experienced and commercially astute employment lawyer with extensive experience in private practice and the non-profit sector. Having worked with one of the largest national childrens’ charities as sole Employment Counsel, Dipti is well versed in managing a range of diverse and complex employment matters and reputational risk. Dipti’s private clients range from those in regulated industries such as education, pharmaceutical and the financial sector as well as SME’s and start-ups. She is often considered an extension of in-house legal and HR teams who rely on her technical expertise as well as her exceptional commercial and operational insight.  Dipti also has extensive experience in negotiating exit packages and post termination restrictions for both her employer and employee clients. Jason has been a Partner in Quastels’ Corporate and Commercial team since 2005, having worked as a commercial lawyer in Australia from 1998 and in England since 2001. Jason is trusted by his clients to represent them at all stages of the process of buying and selling businesses or shares in companies. Jason also advises on a range of commercial contracts, working with banks, real estate investors and major players across the leisure and retail sectors. Clients value Jason’s ability to quickly understand the issues and opportunities facing their businesses and to provide relevant and commercial advice. Jason drafts and negotiates loan and security documents for private and institutional lenders as well as acting for borrowers. He also acts on corporate aspects of property transactions and advises property investors, landlords and tenants on portfolio management, joint ventures and development projects.

Jonathan Neilan is an experienced Real Estate Partner and has been acting in the commercial property and new-build sector since 2000. He advises all on all types of commercial and large-scale residential property transactions, including purchasing and financing sites and dealing with their subsequent disposal. His recent focus has been in structuring site-set ups for onward sale and dealing with the lettings of commercial units for developers, advising on the development process and disposal of the finished product. Jonathan has an established and diverse client base. As well as acting for public limited companies and investment groups on new-build schemes he has built up a wide individual client base, partly through his attendance at overseas property exhibitions across Eastern Europe, the Middle East & Asia. As legal adviser to some of the UK’s largest family offices, private companies and entrepreneurs he is trusted by his clients for his depth of experience in investment, joint ventures and his ability to effect introductions at the highest level. He is also particularly active with clients involved in the arts and finance. Regarded by his loyal clients as a deal maker his clients rely upon him for his tactical and strategic approach to getting things done. Before starting Quastels, Jonathan spent nine years at Allen & Overy and SJ Berwin & Co. He has a degree in law from City Business School and Trinity College, Cambridge.

Marcus is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with a wealth of cross-border experience.  His clients appreciate his hand-on style and advisory approach. She advises all on all types of residential property transactions, including purchases and sales of leasehold and freehold houses and apartments. Naomi joined Quastels in December 2022 as a partner in the commercial real estate team. Naomi specialises in all aspects of commercial real estate, including acting for landlords and tenants, drafting, negotiating and advising on leases and associated documents and complex conditional sale and purchase agreements. Naomi also has experience of working with developers, setting up commercial and mixed use developments and working with clients’ teams of professionals to ensure that the best possible advice is given based on the individual circumstances and wider concerns (including negotiating and reviewing ancillary documents such as s106 Agreements). In addition, Naomi has built up relationships with commercial lenders, giving expert advice in a time efficient manner to ensure their interests are fully protected whilst recognising the importance of maintaining relationships with their customers.

Robert is an experienced litigator who heads the Dispute Resolution department. Whilst he provides legal and commercial attention to the issues his focus is on finding the best solution to the issues you face. Having commenced his legal career as a barrister, Robert is able to handle cases throughout every stage of litigation. Robert acts for businesses and individuals in a range of disputes, particularly those which are important and/or complicated. His extensive experience includes being involved in advising, managing and monitoring litigation or arbitration overseas, or working with overseas lawyers or clients to either further his client’s objectives or who require assistance with English law or procedure. Robert delivers courses including Witness Familiarisation and Courtroom Confidence – skills for expert witnesses and lay persons to maximise their proficiency when appearing before a court or tribunal. In particular, he provides regular training to various police forces to ensure that detectives involved with the CID department (crimes of a serious or complex nature) better understand the essential skills of communication in the courtroom and in their decision logs.
Simon Grossobel
Simon Grossobel
Simon heads the firm’s Sports Group. He is an experienced commercial disputes and regulatory lawyer with a sports industry focus. He is highly experienced in the representation of players, managers, agents, clubs and associations in disputes, providing them with specialist advice, including in connection with commercial contracts and sports specific regulations. His experience includes over 40 FIFA, CAS and other domestic and foreign arbitrations. He has also acted on a number of high profile sporting and financial investigations. Simon joined Quastels in 2021 from the US firm Squire Patton Boggs.
