Daniel is a partner and the Head of Property Litigation at Joelson. He and his team advise UK property companies, developers, investors, occupiers and high net worth individuals. Daniel specialises in complex property related disputes including development disputes, injunctions, dilapidations, rights to light and neighbourly matters, service charge disputes, trespass, lease and other contractual consents, rent reviews, opposed and unopposed lease renewals, arrears recovery, high value residential disputes and joint venture disputes.

Since qualifying in 1997, he has worked in both London’s West End and The City, and is therefore fully integrated into the culture of both the commercial property and corporate legal world, whilst maintaining good contacts within the property industry. He specialise in all aspects of property law especially residential development and commercial property. He has acted on many landmark high end residential, mixed use and commercial developments over many years, as well as managing teams on portfolio acquisitions and sales and large plot sales. His experience in this area is supported by in-depth knowledge, good judgment and legal skills. David has worked on some of London’s landmark residential property transactions in recent years. David qualified at Jeffrey Green Russell. He later joined SJ Berwin where he spent five years, before deciding to leave a large, city environment to join a smaller, entrepreneurial firm, Brecher.  Taking the plunge, together with three other colleagues, they then founded JD Law, a dynamic, commercial property-heavy firm which they operated successfully for six years before fate stepped in again, to introduce them to the partners of Joelson Wilson, whose expertise lay primarily within the corporate world.   They decided together, they would be stronger, and they merged their respective practices to form Joelson.

Jennifer advises companies and employees on all aspects of employment relationships including employment contracts, bonuses and employee incentives, redundancy situations, dismissals, compromise agreements, employment issues in buying and selling businesses.  She advises employers and individuals in Employment Tribunal and court matters, including unfair dismissal, breach of contract and discrimination claims.  She also advises governing boards, trustees and directors on their duties and obligations.

Jo is a Partner at Joelson, which she joined in 2006 to set up the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team. Jo heads up that team and also heads up the Retail & Fashion team. The Disputes team has grown from strength to strength since Jo joined and Jo undertakes a wide range of high value and complex disputes both in the UK and internationally for high net worth individuals and corporate entities. This expertise covers a range of industry sectors, including: hospitality and leisure, food, gaming, retail and fashion, IT, commodities, financial services and regulatory, film and entertainment, and the creative industries. Jo has a particular specialism in the field of contentious Intellectual Property built up over many years. This includes Trade Mark infringement; passing off; copyright infringement; registered and unregistered design rights and reputation management for clients.

Matthew practices across a broad range of transactional and advisory work for both private and public companies, with extensive experience across M&A, start-ups, growth capital and management advisory, as well as working with employee incentive structures and providing specialist advice in respect of SEIS and EIS matters, for both investors and founders. He has a particular focus on working with start-ups and young companies in a variety of sectors, not least the tech sector, building on his experience in the IT industry prior to qualifying as a solicitor, with the aim to use his expertise to help founders throughout their journey from early seed capital raisings through to series A, B and C, and onwards, whether as a scale-up business or with a view to an exit.  Matthew also has experience of drafting all manner of commercial contracts both in respect of UK transactions and overseas matters in Europe and beyond. Matthew also acts regularly for AIM-listed clients in relation to IPOs, placings and reverse takeovers, often with a multi-jurisdictional dimension.

Myles is a specialist in all areas of UK construction law, contractual and dispute resolution. He has experience advising clients on all legal aspects of construction projects, looking after their interests and facilitating them in achieving their objectives. He has advised the residential, commercial and retail sectors and also acts on all construction aspects in relation to development finance. Myles’ dispute resolution work for clients includes cases involving defective works, payment issues, traditional construction time and money disputes, and health and safety compliance issues. He also frequently advises on cases involving construction insolvency and insurance issues. Having acted for over 15 years for some of London’s leading developers, he has worked extensively on some of the most substantial UK commercial and residential developments. Myles’ clients include substantial developers, property investors, development funders, contractors and professional consultants.

Paul is Managing Partner and Co-Head of the Corporate Team with over 20 years’ experience working on UK and international transactions. He has a well established client base with private and public M&A, corporate finance and venture capital. He serves on a number of client Boards as quasi General Counsel providing both legal and strategic advice. He is very active within the Team’s venture capital and private equity practices, supporting management teams and some of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs and emerging Funds. The sectors Paul covers include financial services, food and drink, marketing, education, design and technology. Fluent Spanish speaker.

Phil’s main practice areas include a broad range of UK and cross border mergers and acquisitions, acting for privately owned, private equity and venture capital backed businesses on M&A and other commercial advisory work. As part of his expertise in acting for private equity and venture capital backed businesses he has also developed a market leading specialism in advising management teams on private equity transactions. Phil’s practice also has a particular focus on advising founders and  entrepreneurs as well as early stage businesses in respect fundraisings and developing long term relationships with entrepreneurs in a wide range of industries. Phil regularly for AIM-listed clients in relation to IPOs, placings and reverse takeovers often with a multi-jurisdictional dimension.

Sheldon works alongside many well-known CEOs of public and private businesses. He particularly enjoys leading legal teams across a range of jurisdictions, and acting for entrepreneurs wishing to grow and sell their businesses. Over the course of his career he has acted on numerous IPOs and fundraises, and for management teams involved in both buy-ins and buy-outs. Sheldon has particular knowledge of the leisure, food, gaming, events and resources sectors and counts many “household names” among his clients. As well as providing corporate and commercial legal advice, many clients turn to Sheldon at an early stage for advice in weighing up different business options ahead of committing themselves to final decisions. Sheldon is also the Chairman of ELN (European Lawyers Network) and regularly represents ELN in its dealings with external organisations and other law firms.
