At Kenaroğlu, diversity and inclusion (D&I) are part of our core values. Founded by a female leader, our firm has been a strong advocate for gender equality in a traditionally male-dominated field. Today, two of our three partners are women, and nearly 60% of our team is female. We are especially proud that 70% of our senior positions are held by women. More than just diverse, we foster a truly inclusive culture.

We take a thoughtful approach to hiring, ensuring a diverse candidate pool. Our recruitment process focuses on getting to know candidates beyond their resumes—understanding their ideas, creativity, and perspectives. We avoid questions about personal matters such as religion, sexual orientation, identity, age, socio-economic background, or marital status unless candidates choose to share. We believe that a positive and productive workplace is one where people feel comfortable being themselves. Every member of Kenaroğlu plays a role in upholding our D&I values. A supportive and inclusive team is key to providing the best service to our clients.

We are also proud to mention that our new partner who joined our firm in 2023, Ms. Mine Güner is renowned for her specific efforts and achievements in the field of D&I. Prior to joining Kenaroglu, Mine Güner worked as a partner and Head of IP in Turkey office of Baker McKenzie where she co-established the local D&I Committee in 2014. For almost 10 years, she took active roles in different pillars of D&I such as LGBT rights, Gender, Disability, Cultural and Ethnic Diversity.  In 2022, she was personally rewarded with “Christine Lagarde Award” of Baker McKenzie global, which is granted to only one global D&I Champion every year, on a global basis.  She has been a member to LISTAG Allies, which is a community consisted of white-collar/private sector supporters of LGBT families in Turkey. She is advocating for increasing employment of LGBT people in the workplaces. She helped LGBT NGOs such as Spod (https://spod.org.tr/), Kaos GL (https://kaosgl.org/) and LISTAG (https://listag.org/)  in their legal needs on pro bono basis. She served as a member to D&I Committee of American Chambers of Association (“Amcham”) in 2021-2022. We truly believe that having Mine in our team will add great value to our dedication to D&I.

As a part of reflecting D&I into all policies at Kenaroglu, we provide our employees with a longer term of paid maternity or paternity leave compared to the legal rights regulated by the local legislation. We care about demonstrating the roles and responsibilities of both parents and parental leave is just one example of this.

Kenaroğlu actively supports women’s organizations by both encouraging participation and providing financial contributions. We support organizations such as the Breast Cancer Foundation of Turkey, the Foundation for the Support of Women’s Work, and Mor Çatı Women’s Shelter Foundation. Additionally, we provide pro bono IP services to the We Need to Talk Association, assisting with trademark registrations and offering guidance on IP protection to support their mission in combating period poverty and menstruation stigma in Türkiye. We encourage all team members to commit to our attempts in supporting such foundations and organizations.
