Career

Craig is a commercial litigator with particular experience in contractual disputes and all areas of corporate divorce, involving shareholder and director disputes.

His main focus of work is in the environmental, waste management and pharmaceutical sectors and he is the principle and trusted litigation contact for a number of the firm’s key corporate clients. Craig also deals with private client litigation, with a particular emphasis on contentious trusts and inheritance disputes.

He has a successful track record and has led his team to success in High Court trials, including a libel claim involving a jurisdiction challenge under the Recast Brussels Regulations, an unfair prejudice (minority shareholder) action over an accountancy practice and a worldwide freezing injunction and claim for deferred consideration following the sale of a business. He has a number of reported decisions in both the commercial and contentious inheritance arenas, including: Fairfax Gerrard Holdings Ltd v Zargaran [2003] EWHC 3017 QBD, one of the leading cases on interpleader proceedings; Shah v Joshi [2008] EWHC 1766 (ch), where a will was successfully contested on the basis that it was a forgery.

Craig and his team made new law when they defended a £3m claim against his waste management client after the claimant tried to accept an old settlement offer, half way through the trial. The decision was heavily reported on the question of whether or not to allow acceptance of a Part 36 offer during trial.

Craig is an experienced mediation advocate and has successfully settled a variety of commercial and private client disputes within a broad range of ADR mechanisms.
