Position

Michelle Victor is a Partner and leading Product Liability specialist and the head of the Food Safety team at Leigh Day. She has an enviable consumer rights practice and reputed for handling complex substantial group claims and claims for individuals. Michelle specialises in cases involving defective medical devices, consumer products, environmental claims and food poisoning and allergy claims.

Michelle was the lead solicitor in the ASR hip litigation representing over 600 claimants whose hips failed prematurely. This was a complex multi party action and unparalleled success was achieved in what was described as “one of the biggest disasters in orthopaedic history” against a large corporate conglomerate. Michelle is pursuing various group claims against large corporations involving various components including hips, knees, pacemakers, diabetes monitors, pacemakers and cochlear implants.

She is also pursuing over 1000 claimants in an environmental claim where it is alleged an entire community has been adversely affected by what is believed to be toxic fumes emanating from a site within close proximity to their homes.

Michelle also represented the families at various high profile inquests including Hannah Jacobs, Celia Marsh,  Owen Carey  and Natasha Ednan Laperouse, and was instrumental in bringing about legislative change in food labelling laws (Natasha’s Law).

Michelle featured in The Times, Lawyer of the week and Law Gazette, lawyer in the news and has appeared on TV (BBC, This Morning and Good Morning Britain) and radio and quoted in national and regional press and various publications including Journal Personal Injury Law. Michelle and her team were awarded Winner of the 2024 Personal Injury Claimant Team of the Year award for their groundbreaking work in the allergy field.
