Eduardo Lobatón Guzman brings deep understanding, clear thinking and practical answer to represent his clients’ most contentious matters. Eduardo focuses his practice in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as civil and commercial litigation. Eduardo takes ownership of cases, understanding clients’ business and objectives, and offers bold, novel, and timely legal solutions.

Eduardo is skilled in both civil and common law. Since joining Hogan Lovells, Eduardo has represented and advised clients in ICSID, ICC, LCIA, ICDR, UNCITRAL, CANACO and Mexico Arbitration Center (CAM) arbitrations, and commercial litigations in diverse industries, including insurance, construction, infrastructure, energy, food, automotive, and IT.

Eduardo graduated top of his class and summa cum laude from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). He received an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, where he graduated as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and was a recipient of the Parker School Certificate for Achievement in International and Comparative Law. He holds a certificate in transnational legal studies from the Georgetown Center for Transnational Legal Studies and a postgraduate degree in Amparo Law from Universidad Panamericana. Eduardo’s academic background includes the captaincy of his university’s international arbitration team for two consecutive years and obtaining an honorable mention for his performance in the competition. He also received the CENEVAL Award for Excellence in Performance in the law degree exam.

Eduardo regularly writes and speaks on international arbitration and litigation topics. He currently serves as Young ITA’s Co-Chair for Mexico and Central America, founded Mexico Arbitration Week, and served as Head Coordinator of the Young Arbitrators Forum of CAM/CANACO. He is also part of the Editorial Board of the Law Review published by the Mexico Arbitration Center.
