Career

Carlos Ramos Miranda is a partner in our Mexico City office, advising clients on general M&A, corporate, energy, and insurance matters. Carlos has in-depth experience in the energy industry, where he has advised a wide array of clients in the oil, gas, and power sectors. Carlos advised Pemex on several matters concerning the 2013 energy reform and implementation. He has also advised various clients in the water infrastructure sector. Carlos also has extensive experience in M&A transactions, and has participated in various acquisitions in diverse sectors, including the insurance sector advising global, international and local clients.  Carlos advises multiple insurance and reinsurance companies in day to day regulatory, corporate and compliance issues.  His negotiation skills allow him to close on challenging projects with win-win solutions for the parties involved. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Carlos was a partner at Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa, where he concentrated on M&A, corporate, insurance, and energy law.

Education

Mr. Ramos received his law degree from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM, 1989-1994). He completed his master’s of law degree at Georgetown University Law School (2004-2005). He holds postgraduate diplomas in executive international finance from Georgetown University Business School (1995) and executive finances from Universidad Iberoamericana (2004).

Mr. Ramos was a professor of Commercial Law at Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad Panamericana, and the ITAM.
