Career

David Taylor is a partner in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology group and set up the firms Domain Name and Internet Governance practice. He is admitted to practice law at the English and Paris bars. The challenge of the Internet to brand protection was something that David Taylor recognised early and has been the focus of his pioneering practice for over 20 years. His experience and vision has led to his recognition as being at the cutting edge of internet-related branding issues globally. In addition to a focus on internet-related intellectual property, and in particular domain names, he also advises on data protection and privacy, intermediary liability, encryption regulation and security issues, software licensing, and development agreements.

David is a domain name panellist for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a panellist for UK domain name disputes with Nominet, and an arbitrator for EU and the UDRP with the Czech Arbitration Court.  He has significant involvement with ICANN (The Internet Corporation For Assigned Names And Numbers) - and is a member of their Intellectual Property Constituency and was previously a member of the ICANN GNSO Council, and the ICANN Consumer, Competition and Trust Review Team ("CCTRT").
