Career

With years' of experience in intellectual property, media, and technology law and a practical and a client-focused attitude, Jane Seager, partner, has advised many clients on brand protection online, in particular regarding the protection and recuperation of domain names in many jurisdictions across the globe. Jane also advises on portfolio management and strategy, especially in relation to new generic Top-Level Domains, as well as on many technology-related issues such as phishing, cybersecurity, take down of websites, and social media, and has negotiated the sale and purchase of a number of information technology-related assets such as IPv4 addresses, domain names, and app names. Jane is a Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy panelist with the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Czech Arbitration Court and is also a panelist with Nominet, the French Network Information Centre, and the Czech Arbitration Court in relation to domain name disputes under .CO.UK, .FR, and EU respectively.

Before joining the firm in 2004, Jane spent two years as a trainee solicitor at a well-known specialized intellectual property/technology law firm in London and three years as a solicitor in the company/commercial department of a large city firm. She then spent two years acting as internal counsel for one of the “big five” auditing firms in Paris, advising their information technology consultants in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa.
