Our Senior Associate, Raquel Menéndez has dealt with multinational and local companies' competition concerns from both a Spanish and European Union Law perspective for over 9 years. She assists with matters typical of national/ international legal traffic and trade, advising clients on merger control, internal audits, state aid proceedings, cartel and abuse of dominant position investigations and other administrative and/or judicial antitrust proceedings before the European Commission, the Spanish Competition Authority and national Courts of Justice. Moreover, she is well-versed in issues of growing importance in the last years, such as coordinating multi-jurisdictional foreign direct investment assessments, compliance audits, preparing FDI filings in Spain and compliance programs from a competition law perspective and representing major clients on the raising damages claims derived from competition law infringements. In addition, she has participated in a secondment advising internally a major multinational chemical company on commercial and competition law matters.
Raquel has a Double Master’s Degree in Legal Practice and European Union Law, from Carlos III University and ISDE School of Legal Practice in Madrid. She is also professor at the Graduate School of Law of the Carlos III University of Madrid. Moreover, she participates in numerous competition law publications (GCR, Lexology, Practical Law, Tirant Lo Blanch, etc.), as well as working groups within the Spanish Association for the Defence of Competition (e.g. comments and contributions to public proposed regulations and policies, recently on AI and Metaverse). She has been included these last years as Ones to Watch in the Best Lawyers directory in the categories of Competition / Antitrust Law (Spain).
