Career
As partner in Hogan Lovells' International Arbitration Group, Thomas Kendra has extensive experience acting for companies and States in commercial and investment arbitrations and mediations, including in particular under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, ICSID and UNCITRAL. Thomas' knowledge and skills are focused on the energy, aerospace, technology, construction and telecommunications sectors, as well as in investment arbitration, in which he has acted for both States and investors. He is dual-qualified in England and France. Thomas is passionate about encouraging the growth of alternative dispute resolution, notably in Africa and also Asia, where he has worked. This led him to collaborate in establishing the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC) in Rwanda in 2012, for which he was shortlisted for Solicitor of the Year by the Law Society, and he remains a member of KIAC's Board and Executive Committee. He regularly publishes and speaks on the topic of ADR, including in Africa. Thomas also teaches a class on energy arbitration at the University of Versailles.
