Myersons was established in October 2017 by Victoria Myerson as the first boutique family law firm in Jersey.  The team is highly experienced, and individually skilled, in dealing with all forms of private law disputes.  Myersons takes a different view of family law that encourages a holistic approach and a long term view of the impact of decisions upon all those involved.  The team strives to guide their clients through difficult times by encouraging access to therapeutic and health support to ensure resilience and wellbeing throughout their case.

The firm provides tailored advice on matters including divorce and financial remedies, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, child related issues such as financial provision, residence, contact and leave to remove disputes.  It aims to support clients in achieving a fair outcome and with minimal conflict.  Advising on all aspects of family law and instrumental in most high-profile cases in Jersey, the team is highly regarded for their expertise in dealing with high net worth clients on complex asset division cases involving trusts, business assets and investment structures.

Victoria Myerson started her career with several years at the London Bar before returning to Jersey.  She was formerly partner, and Head of Family Law, at one of the largest global offshore firms.  Myersons was founded with her well-established team of lawyers.  Drawing on their collective experience of working within a larger firm environment the team provides a high level of service but one that is responsive and tailored to client needs.

The firm has an unrivalled reputation in the Island as specialists in the field of family law.  Since opening its doors Myersons has grown both in volume and personnel.  New clients result from recommendations from former clients and referrals from senior individuals within the legal and financial sectors in Jersey.  The team maintains strong links with a number of the large London firms, working together in cases involving multi-jurisdiction issues.

The firm advises in relation to all aspects of family law and regularly acts for HNW individuals, partners of law and accountancy firms and trust and company directors, as well as stay at home spouses seeking to secure their share of the matrimonial pot.

In respect of separation and divorce matters, work undertaken includes reconciliation and separation agreements; issues relating to cohabitation; injunctive relief; pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and contested proceedings related thereto; judicial separation proceedings; interim maintenance applications (including applications for legal funding); disclosure issues (such as Imerman and non-disclosure/asset tracing); divorce proceedings (including defended cases) and complex financial remedy applications (for example those involving multifarious trust, company and cross-jurisdictional issues).

The firm has also been involved in cases before the Court of Appeal (Jersey) and the Privy Council.

In relation to children matters, the team is well versed in dealing with applications for residence or contact; child maintenance; child maintenance variations; leave to remove/ relocation; specific issue orders; prohibited steps orders; parental responsibility and applications under schedule 1 of the Children (Jersey) Law 2002.  In addition, Myersons has expertise in dealing with private law children cases involving safeguarding concerns.

Across the vast spectrum of these areas of work the firm undertakes within the family law arena, the firm has significant experience in facilitating and  encouraging a variety of forms of alternative dispute resolution such as mediation, round table/settlement meetings and private financial dispute resolution meetings.
