Position

Tyr's Sport practice is led by partner Alistair McHenry who joined Tyr in 2022.  Alistair has extensive experience in all aspects of sports law with a particular focus on contentious integrity, disciplinary and regulatory work. He advises on disputes at the very highest levels including for International Integrity Agencies, National Governing Bodies and Premier League Clubs. Alistair also has a successful practice in decision making in sport, regularly Chairing panels resolving disputes for UK Athletics and the Lawn Tennis Association in selection, disciplinary and safeguarding matters.

Career

Alistair trained and qualified at Walker Morris where he spent a total of 15 years before joining Tyr in early 2022.

Memberships

Since 2018 Alistair has been an appointed Arbitrator and Mediator for Sport Resolutions, regularly taking appointments to arbitrate on complex disputes. Alistair is also on the Judicial Panels for LTA, Table Tennis England, UK Athletics and British Universities and Colleges Sport. Alistair is a Director on the Board of British Association for Sport and Law (BASL). Alistair wrote the chapter on injuries in both editions of Football & the Law and was cited with approval as an authority in sports injuries in the High Court case of Fulham FC v Jones [2022] EWHC 1108 (QB). Alistair is also on the UK Editorial Board for Law in Sport.
