Alistair McHenry

Tyr's Sport practice is led by partner Alistair McHenry who joined Tyr in 2022.  Alistair has extensive experience in all aspects of sports law with a particular focus on dispute resolution, contentious regulatory work and arbitrations. He has advised on a number of arbitrations at the very highest levels involving Premier League Clubs. He has acted for governing bodies, clubs, players, athletes and other sports professionals on a wide variety of issues.

Ashley Jaques

Ashley joined Tyr as a Partner in September 2021 to establish the Business Restructuring team.  Ashley specialises in property-based insolvencies and receiverships, together with director advisory and transactional matters. Ashley’s recent experience has involved advising directors of an airline in financial difficulty in connection with directors’ duties; advising a finance house on their enforcement options against directors suspected of distributing funds outside of the security provided; advising joint receivers on the marketing and sale of over fifty residential units and of the freehold; and advising directors of their rights following the failure of customers to pay for services provided. Ashley acts for insolvency practitioners, financial institutions, companies, directors, property agents and turnaround professionals from across the country on all aspects of corporate recovery and restructuring work.  

Chris Blantern

Chris has over 15 years experience and leads the Corporate team at Tyr. Chris acts for a range of clients from small to medium sized enterprises through to large national public and private companies. He advises on a wide range of transactions including acquisitions and disposals (of both shares and assets), management buy-outs and buy-ins, joint ventures, shareholder and partnership agreements, refinancing and reorganisations as well as providing general corporate advice. Chris is recognised as a trusted adviser to his clients and is renowned for his ability to get deals done.

David Cook

David is a Partner in the Commercial Litigation team at Tyr. David advises on a wide range of high-value complex commercial disputes and risk management issues, with specialist experience in disputes involving IT, pensions and trusts, financial services, and corporate issues.  He frequently advises on international disputes, including in respect of supply chain issues and contract terminations.  David has acted for clients in several high profile reported cases in both the High Court and Appellate Courts, as well as having an excellent track record of successfully resolving disputes via mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.  He acts for a wide range of clients from public companies to private individuals across a range of sectors, including:  Retail and Consumer, Digital, Energy and Utilities, Transport, and Financial Services.

Luisa D'Alessandro

Luisa joined Tyr in February 2021 to establish the firm’s commercial and IT practice.  She is a commercial and IT contracts specialist with more than twenty years of experience in her chosen field.  Luisa deals with a range of commercial contract work including agency, distribution, franchising, outsourcing and supply and purchase agreements.  She also has significant experience in data protection law and e-commerce work and has a particular interest in supporting clients in the IT arena, dealing with matters such as software licensing models, IT system purchase and supply arrangements, reseller agreements and service level agreements.   Other sectors of experience include manufacturing, logistics, leisure and retail, and professional services. Clients range from SMEs to large corporates including household name organisations and listed companies.  She also deals with matters involving overseas aspects such as transborder data flows and international supply contracts.

Lyn Dario

Lyn leads the Environment and Regulatory practice area at Tyr. She undertakes a wide spectrum of environmental work, including providing support on corporate and property transactions; standalone advice to clients on environmental issues; and litigation for regulatory breaches (acting for defendants).  In addition to her specialism in environmental work, Lyn advises on regulatory and compliance matters more generally, including health and safety prosecutions; coroners’ inquests; trading standards investigations (for example, product safety/food safety); and competition law.  She also undertakes training for directors and senior managers on environmental compliance and directors’ duties.  Along with environmental consultants, EMS, she has devised a training course on environmental management for directors, which is endorsed by the ILM. Lyn has written for the Trade Press on a number of issues, including Safety and Health Practitioner.

Marcus Watson

Marcus is a Senior Associate in Tyr's Commercial Property team. Marcus is particularly experienced in commercial and residential development work, acquisitions and disposals. Marcus' recent experience includes acting on strategic land acquisitions for top 10 national housebuilders on sites throughout the UK and property finance deals for both banks and borrowers. Marcus also has extensive experience of all aspects of landlord and tenant work including portfolio management for a number of large high street retailers. Marcus takes a pragmatic and commercial approach to transactions, enabling his clients to achieve their desired outcomes quickly and effectively.

Marie Bourke

Marie joined Tyr in July 2021 as an Associate, to develop the Financial Crime team. Marie has a particular specialism in representing individuals and companies facing allegations of high value financial crime. She has defended clients in cases which include allegations of corruption, abuse of position conspiracy to defraud, fraudulent trading, money laundering and cheating Public Revenue. Marie has a particular interest in cases involving proceeds of crime applications.

Matthew Fidler

Matthew is a founding Partner and co-department head of the Commercial Litigation team at Tyr. Matthew specialises in complex commercial disputes with particular experience of investor disputes, director/officer misfeasance, financial services disputes, civil fraud and competition litigation. His work has spanned a range of industry sectors including financial services, retail, technology, heavy industry, automotive, aeronautical and the public sector working for a range of clients from large multi-national corporates to individual entrepreneurs and investors.  He has also acted on a number of large group actions.

Matthew Yates

Matthew is a Partner and leads Tyr's Employment team. Matthew has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist employment solicitor advising a wide range of companies, in various sectors and jurisdictions, from PLCs to SMEs as well as senior individuals. Matthew’s particularly noteable experience includes: Acting for ICI in the reported case of Hagen & 440 others v ICI & others. Acting for various national hauliers and logistics businesses in defending all types of tribunal claims and advising on TUPE and other employment issues. Advising on a worldwide restrictive covenant for a well-known entertainer. Advising on potential industrial action which could have resulted in a national fuel strike. Matthew has substantial experience in all aspects of employment law and provides solutions and advice on a range of employment matters, including business restructuring, TUPE and collective consultation, restrictive covenants, managing trade union relations, business acquisitions and disposals, defending all types of Employment Tribunal claims and advising on executive severance (for both companies and individuals). Matthew conducts his own advocacy before the Employment Tribunal and is an experienced training presenter.  

Sarah  Temple

Sarah joined Tyr as a partner in the commercial property team in July 2022. She brings over 20 years experience to the team and specialises in complex freehold and leasehold transactions for investors and corporate occupiers. Sarah has a portfolio of clients for whom she has provided legal advice for many years. This portfolio is made up from a wide spectrum of clients including financial institutions, portfolio landlords and sector specialist occupiers including retailers and educational and charitable organisations. Sarah has, whilst maintaining a busy full time practice, recently obtained a distinction in a project management Masters Degree at Leeds Beckett university to further enhance the value that she can give to her clients.
