Career

Mustapha enjoys a broad practice of Crime, Civil, Immigration and Family Law. He has used his experience to sensitively work with many challenging clients obtaining excellent results.

Mustapha is primarily a Defence barrister but is also regularly instructed by the CPS as a Prosecutor and has benefitted greatly from the insight it brings while working in both the Magistrates and Crown Court. He has Prosecuted and Defended in a wide variety of cases, ranging from simple traffic matters to more complex domestic violence cases.

Mustapha is also keen to develop his civil practice. Very recently he successfully represented an Applicant in her application for a non-molestation and occupation order.

Mustapha has also provided free legal advice to members of the Spanish community in and around Lambeth as part of the first-six months of his pupillage. Mustapha assisted on a wide variety of matters ranging from landlord and tenant disputes to more complex employment disputes.

Having graduated in Law (LL.B.) at the University of Brunel in 2015, Mustapha went on to complete a Masters in 2016 and then the Bar Professional Training Course at the University of the West of England, Bristol and was Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in 2017. Mustapha successfully completed his pupillage from December 2017 to December 2018 becoming one of the youngest practising barristers in the country.

Mustapha is also an ADR-ODR International Accredited Mediator and is keen to expand this aspect of his practice.

Notable Cases

R v O (2018) – Defended a youth in a 3-day, 2 two Defendant youth trial where one of the Defendant’s had been badly stabbed.

GM and Secretary of State (2018) – represented a client suffering from mental health issues in her appeal against extradition.

VD and PS (2018) – successfully opposed an application to adjourn in a family case thereby finally bringing an ending proceedings lasting nearly 4 years.

Education
