Partner - For the past 15 years, Jean-Sébastien has helped players in the digital economy by protecting their innovation (software, databases, artificial intelligence, e-commerce platforms), securing their business activities (personal data, cybercrime, e-reputation) and providing representation in litigation before civil, commercial and criminal courts (piracy, unfair competition, Internet) and supervisory authorities. His practice focuses on ICT service activities, Media, Gaming, Luxury and Consumer goods. Jean-Sébastien also advises on public and regulatory affairs in order to facilitate early awareness and integration of significant regulatory changes impacting the activity of his clients. In this capacity, he has been active recently in the context of the adoption of the French “Hate speech Act”, “Fake news Act” as well as the transposition of European Directives and Regulations.

Julie CAREL

Partner - Julie has a broad ranging practice in intellectual property and information technology and represents start-up companies as well as well-established multi-national companies. Julie has significant experience advising clients regarding strategically structuring their intellectual property estates and working to create an integrated and balanced portfolio that effectively combines intellectual property rights (trademarks, copyright, software, patents, designs and appellations of origin). She assists clients throughout the life cycle of their intangible assets, from their protection to their strategic valuation (audits, license, partnerships and assignment agreements) to their defense through anti-counterfeiting policies, as well as judicial, administrative and custom litigation at French and European levels. Julie frequently assists clients regarding matters related to digital and innovative technologies (liability of Internet players, e-reputation, artificial intelligence issues), to personal data (RGPD audits, impact analyses, exchanges with the CNIL), as well as to commercial issues (master agreements, commercial litigation). Julie’s practice covers counseling and litigation, and she focuses on litigating efficiently and ensuring that case strategy matches clients’ business goals. She has acquired particular skills in the understanding of complex technical matters (including software infringement) and their translation into simple terms to enable judges to understand. Julie’s key areas of expertise include tech and software, luxury goods, sports, wines and spirits, as well as media and publishing.

Laura GODFRIN

Senior Associate - Laura Godfrin advises French and foreign companies both in contentious and non-contentious matters in the sector of intellectual property (copyrights, trademarks, designs and models), IT and new technologies law. Laura Godfrin has developed extensive experience in litigation matters especially in intellectual property (copyright, trademark, designs) and economic law (distribution networks, unfair competition and passing off). She also assists clients with administrative proceedings before the French Trademark Office (INPI) and EUIPO. Laura has a deep knowledge of the regulation framework applicable to digital platforms and regularly assists clients on issues related to digital identity management (removal of unlawful and harmful content; defamation, denigration). She also advises clients in various economic sectors (cosmetics, personal care, food & beverages, and e-sport) on distribution and consumer protection matters.
