Office structure
Behind each case that GSJ Lawyers handles, operates a team of some 68 specialised lawyers.
Unity in diversity: the client is stronger because we share our knowledge with each other. Our office is built around this way of working.
You’ll notice it in our organisation: one global office with overlapping departments in which each lawyer can rely on the input of colleagues from other fields. This overlap stimulates cross-fertilisation between the different disciplines, so that insights from one department are enriched with knowledge from another. GSJ’s lawyers do not handle their clients in isolation. Through this exchange, each GSJ client has access to solid professional knowledge in diverse fields. If other lawyers at the firm can contribute to a case due to their specific knowledge, they will. In this way, the expertise of each lawyer is at the service of each client.
You’ll also see it in our logo, which depicts our motto “Adding value through shared knowledge”. The vision behind that motto makes us who we are: one of the larger law firms in Flanders. But different.

Adding value through shared knowledge
In a world whose complexity increases daily, knowledge is a precious commodity. The best way to increase knowledge is to share it with others, certainly in the legal profession. The handling of a case increasingly requires the input of multiple lawyers with specific knowledge. Which is why GSJ Lawyers is organised into overlapping departments.
This way of working is also reflected in our logo. The overlapping ovals represent the departments that stimulate each other. Where the ovals intersect, information is exchanged and knowledge deepened.
The multidisciplinary approach to policy implementation sometimes also requires a multidisciplinary approach to the legal issues that may arise. The know-how, knowledge and experience accumulated by GSJ Lawyers can therefore be fully applied here. The complementary nature of GSJ Lawyers achieved through collaboration between the different specialised departments, i.e. the mix of expertise, can be optimally deployed for the benefit of the client.
Thus knowledge is the keyword at GSJ. Our lawyers not only share this knowledge with each other, but also with the public. Thanks to years of experience, GSJ’s lawyers are frequently consulted for policy preparation work and teaching assignments. We are also regularly called upon to lecture at seminars.

Departments
GSJ’s motto “Adding value through shared knowledge” has resulted in an open structure, in which the exchange of knowledge and cooperation are central features of the various departments.
Within the 6 major fields in which GSJ is active, namely:
o liability law, insurance law and criminal law
o administrative and environmental law
o corporate law
o real estate, construction contract law and public procurements
o personal and family law, and family property law
o social and labour law, public service law and education law
various subcategories of topics in which the firm has been able to develop solid expertise in the meantime are also handled. Reference can be made to sub-specialisations such as company law, distribution and commercial contracts, co-ownership and apartment law, disciplinary measures, intellectual property rights and media, government contracts or PPP.
